A drunk driving suspect apparently hanged himself in the lockup at the Los Angeles Police Department headquarters downtown, police said Saturday.
Clement Pedregon, 37, who was arrested Friday evening after the car he was driving struck a pole, was found about 4 a.m. Saturday hanging from a bunk bed in a cell, Officer Craig Hrehor said. He apparently hanged himself with his shoelaces, Hrehor said. Jail personnel rushed Pedregon to the lockup’s infirmary, but he was pronounced dead on arrival. Hrehor said police know of no motive for the apparent suicide.
