Angel Leads Golf Tournament

Darren Angel of Northridge shot a first-round 77 to take a one-stroke lead in the boys’ 13-14 age division of the Edgewood Tahoe Junior golf classic in Stateline, Nev.
The five-over-par score on the 6,554-yard layout gave Angel the lead over Todd Rose of Fresno.
In the boys’ 15-18 division, Jason Gore of Valencia and Chad Wright and Jacob Luskall, both of Ventura, all shot 78s, eight shots off the pace. Stuart Cohen of Agoura is a shot back of the threesome.
Defending champion Scott Johnson of Kennewick, Wash., holds a three-stroke lead after shooting a 70.
