Roy Disney’s Santa Cruz 70 Pyewacket won two of four races and the Kenneth Watts Perpetual Trophy for ULDB 70s outside Los Angeles Harbor.
Pyewacket, already the sleds’ 1991 series champion, collided with Evolution before the start of Saturday’s second race but, because of the circumstances, was given only a partial penalty from second to seventh place (seven points) instead of a full disqualification (11 points)--enough to make the winning difference.
After Pyewacket won the fourth and final race it had 13 1/2 points, two more than Mitch Rouse’s Taxi Dancer.
