Sierra Madre : Money Given for Gym Mats
The Kiwanis Club of Sierra Madre donated $800 to the city’s recreation programs at Tuesday’s City Council meeting.
The money will be combined with a Sierra Madre Civic Club donation of $430 and a $328 contribution from the city to purchase four tumbling mats and a gymnastics crash pad.
Donna Harriman, director of the Parks and Recreation Department, said almost 300 children participating in the Kindergym Program (ages 3 to 5) and the Developmental Gymnastics class (ages 6 to 13) will use the equipment. Adult aerobics and jujitsu classes as well as after-school day care and summer day camp programs will also use the mats.
