Bach, is giving “farewell” concerts again this weekend--as he has done virtually every year for the past quarter century. “There’s nothing like a good cry,” Schickele told the New York Times earlier this week. “Doing repeated farewell concerts gives one the opportunity of enjoying the pang of parting year after year.” Among the pieces planned for this year’s shows at Carnegie Hall is the “Safe Sextet,” so named, Schickele claims, because it was discovered in a hotel safe after burglars had made off with everything of value.
