14 Schools Are Represented on Southeast All-Star Team

Fourteen schools are represented on The Times’ 1991 Southeast All-Star High School Football Team, led by Valley Christian of Cerritos and El Rancho of Pico Rivera with three players each.
The offensive player of the year is lineman Danny Cervantes of Schurr High in Montebello. The defensive player of the year is back Albert Sethman, a two-time all-Southeast selection from Whittier. Dick Shelko, who guided El Rancho to its second consecutive Whitmont League title, was named coach of the year.
The all-Southeast team, selected through a poll of coaches, includes receivers Damon Hicklin (Downey) and Vince Wilson (Santa Fe), offensive linemen Jose Bernal (Bell Gardens), Dong Koo (Warren), Adrian Corona (El Rancho), Adrian Flores (Montebello) and Cervantes. Also on the team are center Eric Sands (Glenn), quarterback Johnny Macon (Downey) and running backs Chris Loera (El Rancho) and Corey Peters (Valley Christian).
Defensive linemen include Anthony Casados (La Mirada), Tom Moncayo (El Rancho), Jake Wiersma (Valley Christian) and Cesar Magana (Bell Gardens). Linebackers are Aaron Plante (Valley Christian), Bobby Barnard (Pioneer Baptist), Claudio Millan (Schurr) and Fernando Loza (Huntington Park).
Sethman (Whittier), Adrian Fernandez (Huntington Park) and Jimmy Hutchinson (La Mirada) are the defensive backs.
Matt Lenzen (St. Paul) is the kicker.
The team members will be honored at a breakfast at 9 a.m. Jan. 12 at the Sheraton Cerritos Hotel.
