Bicentennial of Bill of Rights
I am very, very perturbed at the press for not giving adequate credit to the American Civil Liberties Union for the contribution it has made in giving meaning to the Bill of Rights on the occasion of its bicentennial.
I don’t do much, I confess, as an ACLU member, but I have become acquainted with many members who do a lot; and it disturbs me that the organization to which they have given so much money and energy is not being praised as the organization which turned words that were all but meaningless prior to 1920 into some of the most important statements made in human history.
