Pasadena : Red Cross Calls for Blood
The Pasadena chapter of the American Red Cross says its blood supply has dropped to 80% below normal and has issued a plea for donations.
Red Cross officials blame the decline on an earlier-than-expected arrival of the flu season combined with holidays, when blood donations routinely decrease.
To be a donor, one must be at least 17, weigh more than 110 pounds and be healthy. The Pasadena chapter’s donor center is at the Orangewood Shopping Center at California and Pasadena avenues. Hours are Wednesdays, 12:15 to 7 p.m. and Fridays, 8:30 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
