Columbus and Western Culture

Three cheers for printing Berliner’s column on Columbus and Western civilization. Those who attack Columbus are motivated by an unspeakable hatred of Western civilization and the values it represents. Striving to outdo the Marxists who preach the equality of all social classes, these paragons of egalitarianism go one step further: They preach the equality of all cultures.

Why don’t these hypocrites start practicing what they preach? Let them abandon Western science, technology, medicine and dwellings and create their own stagnant, egalitarian culture in the wild. After all, all cultures are equal, aren’t they?
