Veteran rock-blues performer Gregg Allman will make a stop at the Ventura Theater on Saturday.
Allman’s husky, emotive voice has been a favorite of contemporary blues aficionados for years and has helped power the successful comeback of the ever popular, venerable Allman Brothers Band.
The evening is sure to feature cuts from the singer’s latest solo projects--”I’m No Angel” and “Just Before the Bullets Fly”--as well as jazz-like explorations created with the Brothers.
The evening will open with the Mike Reilly Band offering its brand of raunchy rock, funk and blues.
Allman will join the band after its opening set and cozy up to the keys of his old-fashioned, warm-toned Hammond B-3 organ for an evening of blues that will span musical generations.
The performance begins at 9 p.m. Tickets are $21.50 and available at the door--while they last. The Ventura Theater is at 26 Chestnut St. For more information, call 648-1888.
