Chevron May Cut Jobs in Texas: Chevron Corp. is considering cutting between 500 and 1,900 jobs at its Port Arthur, Tex., refinery, said Keith Guidry, an official with the Oil Chemical and Atomic Workers union local that represents Chevron workers at the plant. Bonnie Chaikind, a Chevron spokeswoman in San Francisco, would not discuss possible job cuts at the refinery, but said the company was looking at ways to reduce costs and improve efficiency at its eight refineries, and that naturally focuses attention on the 315,000-barrel-a-day Port Arthur refinery, which is among our least efficient plants.
