The state of things in states near and far can best be described in two words: dead broke.
“This Week with David Brinkley” turns the spotlight on the severe money crises facing California and other states Sunday at 11:30 a.m. (7)(3), 10:30 a.m. (10)(42). Gov. Pete Wilson, fresh from the unveiling of his latest budget proposal earlier this week, will be queried by the usual panel alongside Connecticut Gov. Lowell Weicker and New Jersey Gov. Jim Florio.
A different state, New Hampshire--the first major power broker in this year’s presidential race--is the focus of C-SPAN’s “Road to the White House,” Sunday at 9:30 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. This week’s installment chronicles Vice President Dan Quayle’s two-day, 12-city campaign swing through the state that will hold the nation’s first presidential primary on Feb. 18.
Escape from the bleak issues of our time is available Sunday at 6 p.m. as TNT televises the 13th Annual “ACE Awards.” Cybill Shepherd and Danny Glover host cable’s top honors from the Pantages Theater in Hollywood. Other celebrities scheduled to appear include: Kenny Loggins, Jane Seymour, Judge Reinhold, Roseanne Arnold, Ted Turner and Jane Fonda.
