California IN BRIEF : OAKLAND : Wedding Ring Found in Ashes Left by Fire

Persistence paid off for a woman who had just about lost hope of ever finding the wedding ring she lost in the firestorm that roared through the Oakland hills in October. Leslie Sosnick and her husband, David Wangsness, had searched through the ashes of their home a dozen times without success. But a cleanup crew came across the ring in less than an hour Wednesday. “It was my happiest moment since the fire,” Sosnick, 37, said as she admired the ring.
