ABT Casts ‘Don Quixote’ for Center Dates

COSTA MESA — American Ballet Theatre has announced principal casting for its engagement of “Don Quixote,” Feb. 4-9 at the Orange County Performing Arts Center. Choreography for this 1991 production is by ex-Bolshoi Ballet principal dancer Vladimir Vasiliev to the Ludwig Minkus score.
The Vasiliev staging, which is receiving its Southland premiere, replaces one by former ABT artistic director Mikhail Baryshnikov and is performed with the same sets and costumes.
The Orange County engagement follows ABT performances of mixed repertory Jan. 30 to Feb. 2 in Los Angeles.
* Feb. 4, 8 p.m.: Cynthia Harvey (Kitri), Wes Chapman (Basil), Christine Dunham (Mercedes), Guillaume Graffin (Espada).
* Feb. 5, 8 p.m.: Cheryl Yeager, Robert Wallace, Christina Fagundes, Jeremy Collins.
* Feb. 6, 8 p.m.: Susan Jaffe, Graffin, Fagundes, Ethan Brown.
* Feb. 7, 8 p.m.: Amanda McKerrow, Collins, Marianna Tcherkassky, Carld Jonassaint.
* Feb. 8, 2 p.m.: Harvey, Chapman, Tcherkassky, Jonassaint.
* Feb. 8, 8 p.m.: Jaffe, Graffin, Dunham, Collins.
* Feb. 9, 2 p.m.: Yeager, Wallace, Tcherkassky, Robert Conn.
