Baldwin Park : Commuter Station Contract

The City Council voted unanimously Wednesday to hire the Siegel Diamond Architects firm to design and supervise the construction of a $1.4-million commuter-rail station.
The station will be on a 3.3-acre strip across from City Hall at 3875 N. Downing Ave., said City Manager Donald Penman. Included in the design are a 261-car parking lot, underground utility lines and a work of public art.
The station, which will serve a commuter-rail line running from San Bernardino to Los Angeles, will be paid for by Proposition A sales taxes and state transportation money, Penman said.
The commuter trains are scheduled to begin running in October.
