New Image Posts $350,000 Profit for Second Quarter

New Image Industries Inc. in Woodland Hills reported a $350,000 profit for its fiscal second quarter ended Dec. 31, in contrast to a $321,000 loss a year earlier. The company achieved the profit turnaround despite an 11% decline in revenue, to $3.8 million from $4.27 million.
New Image makes computer systems for architects, landscapers, beauty salons and others that show before and after images of their services. It attributed its second-quarter profit--its first quarterly profit in nearly two years--to cost cutting and increased sales of its dental systems.
In its latest six-month period, New Image lost $462,000, contrasted with a $1.87-million loss in the first half of fiscal 1991. Revenue slipped 1% to $5.94 million from $6.01 million.
