Breast Implant Controversy

I am exasperated with our government agencies and their knee-jerk reactions to either hot media topics or lobbyist zealots. Although the FDA’s decision on silicone gel breast implants has yet to be finalized, placing a moratorium on the sale and use of these devices leaves 2 million recipients confused and anxious.

Granted, it may well be the role of the FDA to protect and regulate public health, yet the information surrounding this decision is vague and erratic and reeks of politics. It appears that Commissioner Kessler and his panel are merely trying to chastise the manufacturers (i.e., Dow Corning) they are at odds with, and have no regard for the women who are now feeling ostracized and left without a reasonable alternate.
