Airline Says He’s the One With Wide Body

PHOENIX — A man who says he was kicked off a jetliner because the crew said he was too big for his seat is suing Southwest Airlines for $150,000.
“It’s terrible,” said Wallace J. Baker Jr., the attorney for Richard Kaufman of Paradise Valley. “Here’s a fellow, a very reputable person, minding his own business, and all of a sudden three policemen appear and say if he doesn’t get off they’re going to arrest him for trespass.”
Saying Kaufman’s body was encroaching on the passenger next to him, the crew ordered him off a Las Vegas-bound plane in 1990, the suit says.
