Immigration agents arrested 42 undocumented migrants and alien smugglers at a holding house in Southeast San Diego, U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service officials said.
INS agents were tipped off by residents in the 1500 block of 42nd Street who complained of dozens of “noisy strangers” packed into a two-bedroom house Wednesday.
A loaded, 12-gauge shotgun was found in the attic of the home, an INS spokesman said. Apparently the weapon was used by smugglers to intimidate undocumented migrants who were waiting to be taken to Los Angeles, the spokesman said.
