Palmdale Man, 20, Dies in 1-Car Crash

A Palmdale man died early Sunday after his car swerved off a road near Lake Los Angeles and crashed into a power pole, throwing him from the vehicle, a California Highway Patrol spokesman said.
Frank Cevallos, 20, was driving south on 150th Street East near Avenue O about 3:30 a.m. when his car drifted off the left side of the road and hit the pole, Officer Scott Ellis said. Cevallos was thrown from the car, which rolled on top of him.
He died about an hour later at Lancaster Community Hospital, Ellis said.
His passenger, Luis Gutierrez, 23, of Palmdale, suffered moderate injuries and was taken to Antelope Valley Hospital Medical Center.
