Oklahoma Eliminates UCLA, 10-0

Jason Evans homered and Casey Mendenhall pitched his 11th victory in 12 starts as Oklahoma advanced to the College World Series with a 10-0 victory over UCLA in the NCAA Mideast Regional at Starkville, Miss., on Sunday.
The Sooners (42-22) scored during the bottom of the first inning when Scott Marr and Greg Norton came home on a single by Jason Evans and a wild pitch by Gary Adcock (6-6).
Evans led off the sixth with a home run to right field, giving the Sooners a 3-0 lead over the Bruins (37-26).
During the seventh, Oklahoma’s Tim Cossins was hit by a pitch, Britt Bonneau singled and Marr reached on an error. All three scored on a single by Norton to center field.
Evans followed with a single to chase reliever Dan Kramer, who was replaced by Bill Craig. Brian Eldridge singled to drive in Norton, putting Oklahoma ahead, 7-0.
Matt Hansen’s two-run single sparked a nine-run eighth inning as California beat Texas A&M;, 11-4, for the NCAA East Regional title at Gainesville, Fla. Cal (35-26) is the only one of five Pac-10 Southern Division teams that were in the tournament to advance to Omaha.
