A 13-year-old student was wounded Monday in a gang-related drive-by shooting at Patrick Henry Junior High in Granada Hills, police said. The student, whose name was not released, received a graze wound to the knee from a ricocheting bullet or fragment of concrete, said Detective Bob Haro.
The student and several other young people were standing on the school’s physical education field shortly before 1 p.m. when a dark-colored Oldsmobile or Chevrolet carrying four occupants stopped, Haro said. “They yelled out some gang slogans,” Haro said. One of the occupants then fired a shot that struck the pavement and either ricocheted or broke away a sliver of concrete. The injured student was not known to be a gang member, Haro said. He was treated and released from a Granada Hills hospital.
