SOUTHERN SECTION SOFTBALL PLAYOFFS : Coudry Pitches Saugus to Berth in 3-A Division Title Game, 2-1

Senior Kerry Coudry struck out the final batter with the tying run at second base Tuesday to preserve Saugus High’s 2-1 victory over Don Lugo in a Southern Section 3-A Division softball playoff semifinal at the William S. Hart Complex in Santa Clarita.
Saugus (26-3) will face Woodbridge in the final at 5 p.m. Saturday at Mayfair Park in Lakewood. Saugus defeated Woodbridge, 5-1, in a tournament game earlier this season.
Don Lugo (25-5) stranded 11 runners, including two in the final inning against Coudry (22-3).
Kerri Volpe and Kim O’Leary each had two hits for Saugus.
1-A DIVISION
La Reina 3, Cerritos Valley Christian 0: Michelle St. Pierre threw a two-hitter and did not allow a runner past first base in leading La Reina to a semifinal victory at Cal State Northridge.
The shutout was the third of the postseason for St. Pierre (15-4). La Reina (17-4) has not allowed an earned run in 68 innings and has won 12 games in a row.
The Regents will face Moorpark in the final at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Mayfair Park.
Moorpark 10, Whittier Christian 1--Cara Shea pitched a two-hitter and struck out nine as Moorpark (23-4) won its semifinal at La Habra High.
Cher Tinnerello led Moorpark’s 16-hit attack by going four for five. Karen Richter hit a two-run home run and Tinnerello had a run-scoring single during Moorpark’s three-run third inning.
