Remote Airport Lot to Reopen
Bargain air fares have brought summer vacation crowds early to John Wayne Airport, so officials will reopen the remote, $7-a-day, long-term parking lot again today.
While flights still average 87 per day, well below previous peaks, planes are taking off with fuller passenger loads than before, airport spokeswoman Pat Ware said.
The remote lot, on Main Street between Red Hill Avenue and MacArthur Boulevard north of the San Diego Freeway, was last opened to travelers during the Memorial Day weekend.
Free shuttle service from the remote lot to the Thomas F. Riley Terminal will be provided every 30 minutes, Ware said.
Lots closer to the terminal are frequently full.
