Rossmoor Pair to Be Honored

LOS ALAMITOS — Rossmoor residents Gustave Brickman and Virginia Fletcher have been chosen the 1992 Man and Woman of the Year by the Los Alamitos-Rossmoor Chamber of Commerce.
Chosen for their dedication to volunteer efforts in the community, Brickman and Fletcher will be honored Saturday at the chamber’s annual installation banquet.
Brickman is serving his second term as president of the Rossmoor Community Services District. He also served three years as president of the Rossmoor Homeowners Assn. and has been active in fund raising for the Guardians senior home, the Orange County High School of the Arts and various other groups.
Fletcher has been involved in numerous service organizations, including the Soroptimists, the Rossmoor Women’s Club, Casa Youth Shelter and the Cancer Support Foundation. She also finds time to regularly distribute food to the needy in the area.
Fletcher operated Rossmoor Stationers in Los Alamitos for 30 years before closing it recently.
Brickman and Fletcher are the chamber’s 22nd recipients of the Man and Woman of the Year award, which began in 1970.
The awards dinner and installation banquet will be held at the Ramada Hotel, 3865 Katella Ave., Cypress, beginning at 6 p.m. Orange County Superior Court Judge Phillip E. Cox will install the new chamber officers. Dinner tickets are $35 each.
