HUNTINGTON BEACH : Driver Who Died in Crash Identified
- Share via
Authorities on Monday identified a Huntington Beach man who slammed his rental car into a car stopped on the Santa Ana Freeway, killing himself instantly, as Richard Cohan, 39.
Cohan was driving in the southbound fast lane in Norwalk about 3:12 a.m. Sunday when his rental car slammed into the rear of a car that was stopped because of a previous accident, said California Highway Patrol Officer Trany Morton.
A passenger in Cohan’s car, Karl Keiffer, 27, of Placentia, was treated for a cut to the head and released from Norwalk Community Hospital on Sunday, the CHP reported.
CHP investigators said a rain-slicked roadway near Norwalk Boulevard contributed to the fatal accident, but they attributed it primarily to evidence at the scene that Cohan had been drinking. Officers also said there was no skid mark.
