WEST VALLEY : Beilenson Reports Surplus of Cash

Rep. Anthony C. Beilenson (D-Los Angeles) has more than nine times as much cash on hand as his Republican opponent in the 24th Congressional District race, Assemblyman Tom McClintock (R-Thousand Oaks), according to campaign finance reports filed Wednesday.
The district stretches from the western San Fernando Valley to Malibu and through Agoura Hills and Calabasas into the Thousand Oaks area of Ventura County.
In his financial statement filed with the Federal Election Commission, Beilenson, who has represented the district since 1976, reported a cash surplus of $165,319. McClintock reported $17,404.
Beilenson, who was unopposed in the Democratic primary, reported receiving $158,077 in contributions. McClintock reported receiving $154,145 in contributions, and spending $197,054 to defeat eight other candidates in the Republican primary.
