Seattle-based Boeing Co. said its profit was virtually unchanged in the second quarter, mostly because of the cost of developing its new 777 jetliner.
Boeing, the world’s largest commercial airplane manufacturer, reported net earnings of $453 million, or $1.33 a share, for the three months ended June 30. That compares to earnings of $454 million, or $1.32 a share, for the year-earlier period.
Sales for the latest quarter were $7.82 billion, slightly more than the $7.81 billion reported last year.
