* Gerald Jacobs, general counsel for the Resolution Trust Corp., has resigned amid charges of political favoritism at the savings and loan cleanup agency.
The resignation came as the RTC’s internal investigator concluded a probe clearing Jacobs of any wrongdoing in his dealings with a failed Arizona thrift.
“Although the inspector general’s investigation into these news accounts has found them baseless, Jerry feels that due to his extensive recusals, remaining at the RTC will produce continued adverse comment,” RTC President Albert Casey said.
