Kordic’s Ex-Roommate Says Cocaine to Blame

Bruce Cashman says his former teammate and roommate, John Kordic, was addicted to cocaine for many years before his death earlier this month.
Cashman told Sports Illustrated that Kordic had been a cocaine user since his early days in the NHL with the Montreal Canadiens.
Kordic, 27, died in Quebec City on Aug. 8 after scuffling with police in his motel room. Kordic died in an ambulance en route to a hospital.
Police said that no cocaine was found in Kordic’s Motel room when they arrested him.
“That’s probably because he took it all,” Cashman said. “The cocaine is responsible (for Kordic’s behavior). When he was doing cocaine, he would become very, very paranoid. When he saw all those policemen there, he must have gone crazy.”
