Independent candidate David Davis has qualified to run against Rep. Henry Waxman (D-Los Angeles) this fall, the Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder’s office said.
Davis, 40, a Hollywood musician, submitted more than 16,700 valid signatures from registered voters, placing him on the Nov. 3 ballot in the 29th Congressional District, which covers most of the Westside and a section of the southeast San Fernando Valley, said Marcia Ventura, a spokeswoman for the registrar-recorder.
The minimum number of signatures Davis needed was 8,656.
Previously active in the Green Party, Davis re-registered as an independent to qualify for the ballot.
The Republican, Libertarian, and Peace and Freedom parties also have candidates in the heavily Democratic district.
