Mexican Resort Plans Billion-Dollar Face-lift

ACAPULCO, Mexico — Investors plan to spend more than $1 billion to add thousands of hotel rooms to the Pacific coast resort of Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, the town’s mayor says.
The daily Novedades de Acapulco on Thursday quoted Mayor Jorge Allec Galeana as saying the towns are scheduled to have 12,600 hotel rooms by the end of 1995, more than double the current figure.
