No Clues to Whereabouts of Executive : Disappearance: Businessman vanished Tuesday after making a deposit at a bank. Irvine police appeal for help.

Irvine police were searching for clues Saturday in the disappearance of aerospace executive Rowland (Rod) Snowdon--a devoted family man who went to the bank Tuesday and never came home.

Snowdon, 48, was driving a burgundy, 1989 Buick Park Avenue after leaving a Union Bank branch near John Wayne Airport on his way to a business meeting, authorities said. The Huntington Beach resident, a business director with Parker-Hannifin Corp., was traveling to the company’s offices on Jamboree Road, a few miles away, police said.

“I am losing hope, but I try not to think about it yet,” said his wife, Cheryl Snowdon, 48. He had a habit of phoning home three times a day when he was away. He called once that morning, she said, and has not been heard from again.

He had a top security clearance at the aerospace company, but the family dismissed suggestions that his disappearance could be related to his job.

According to financial records and a videotape provided by the bank, Snowdon made a $4,900 cash deposit Tuesday morning. A son, Rick, had given him the money as repayment of a loan, Cheryl Snowdon said.
