*OUTLOOK

The days of domination by Capistrano Valley, El Toro and Mission Viejo appear to be long gone. “Mater Dei is the favorite,” Patton said. “They have one of those programs that tends to turn out great teams. Our league has a lot of dark horses.” Count Capistrano Valley as one. Spence is one of the league’s best players and should be one of its most sought-after recruits. But he needs some help if the Cougars are to be a title contender.
