Oil Rig Count Jumps: Driven by gains in New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas, the number of working oil and gas rigs in the United States surged by 33 last week to 720, Houston-based Baker Hughes Inc. reported. The gain followed a decrease of 17 the week before--to 687. A year ago, the count stood at 770, the Houston tool maker said.
