Huntington Beach Club Wins Title in Arena Polo

HUNTINGTON BEACH — The Playa Grande Polo Club of Huntington Beach defeated Lancer Construction, 15-11, to win the Southern California Arena Polo League title Sunday.
The match was tied, 9-9, going into the fourth and final chukkar, but Playa Grande outscored Lancer, 6-2, to win its second consecutive league title.
Scott Walker scored all three of his goals in the fourth chukkar for Playa Grande. Kathy Batchelor scored a match-high seven goals and Denny Geiler had five for Playa Grande.
Poway defeated the Los Angles Equestrian Center, 15-5, for third place.
Lou Miraglia of Lancer Construction was named the league’s most valuable player. Geiler led the league in scoring with 34 goals, one more than Miraglia. Reteta, owned by Vicki Owens of the Empire Polo Club in Indio, was named the best playing pony.
