Strategic Alliance: Systems & Software Inc., a 14-year-old software company in Irvine, has formed a strategic alliance with Microsoft Corp. to develop tools to improve software development on personal computers.
Under the agreement, Systems & Software will have rights to use Microsoft’s copyrighted source code for its C and C++ programming languages. The agreement allows Systems & Software to develop programmer’s tools, such as programs that remove “bugs,” or errors, from software under design. Systems & Software will also be able to package Microsoft’s software with its own.
It also ensures that Systems & Software’s tools will be compatible with future versions of Microsoft’s programs, and it will improve support for customers who have questions about both companies’ systems. The companies have already developed one software development tool.
