The Bruins salvaged their NCAA record 243-game scoring streak when Louis Perez made an 18-yard field goal with 1:21 remaining at Arizona.
UCLA Coach Terry Donahue called time before Perez’s field goal and asked his team if they wanted to go for a touchdown or a field goal on fourth down, and they chose to keep the streak alive.
“If the team had wanted to go for a touchdown I would have gone for it,” Donahue said.
