Mather made his second start at quarterback a record-setting one as Orange Coast beat Palomar, 42-7, in a Mission Conference game Saturday.
Mather was an option quarterback at Ridgecrest Burroughs High last season and had a personal best of 114 yards rushing in a game.
But he improved on that and also set an OCC single-game rushing record for a quarterback with 198 yards Saturday. He also tied a school-record for touchdowns with four.
Mather scored on runs of 13, 76, 75, and 18 yards. In addition, he completed four of nine passes for 45 yards and a touchdown.
Other top performers:
Golden West defensive end Frank Marvitz, who had 14 tackles, including 4 1/2 sacks, as the Rustlers beat Southwestern, 30-29.
Saddleback defensive end Brent Longnecker, who had 13 tackles, including two sacks, and also knocked down a pass as the Gauchos beat El Camino, 35-17.
