The Garden Grove City Council on Tuesday awarded grants to three city arts groups. The Orange County Symphony and the Garden Grove Assn. for the Arts each received $15,000, while the Garden Grove Community Theatre was awarded $12,000. Two weeks ago, the council postponed approving the grants so it could look at the budgets and programs of the three groups, despite recommendations by the Community Services and Arts Commission that each of the three groups receive $14,500. The delay prompted the orchestra to arrange a private loan from a supporter to enable it to pay orchestra musicians and guests.
