NOW Shock Waves: E! Entertainment cable may be facing a boycott from the Los Angeles chapter of the National Organization for Women over its hiring of shock jock Howard Stern to host a weekly celebrity interview show. “When is this industry going to draw the line?” asks Tammy Bruce, president of NOW’s Los Angeles chapter, who adds that “through the hiring of Stern, E! is sending the message that misogyny and sexism pays, and that the network is intent on perpetuating the hatred of women through Stern.” The chapter wants E! to postpone Stern’s hiring and “open dialogue about this issue.” Stern’s show is set to debut Nov. 27.
