An inmate was stabbed to death during a fight at a county honor camp, authorities reported Wednesday.
Donald Browning, 29, died of multiple stab wounds at 6:50 p.m. Tuesday, while being transported by a Life Flight helicopter to a hospital from the McCain Conservation Camp in Boulevard, the county medical examiner’s office said.
Authorities said a fight broke out among some of the 100 inmates in the camp yard.
During the fight, Browning was stabbed several times, collapsed, and was found injured at 6 p.m., officials said.
The stabbing was probably the result of a personal dispute between Browning and other inmates, a sheriff’s spokesman said.
Detectives Wednesday were working to identify those involved in the stabbing.
