An off-duty Arcadia police officer shot and killed a man on a Pasadena street after the man tried to rob him Wednesday night, authorities said.
Pasadena Police Lt. Jack Robertson said the officer, who was not identified, suffered a minor gunshot wound during the incident, which occurred about 7 p.m. near North Fair Oaks Avenue and Esther Street.
“It looks as though it was an aborted robbery attempt,” Robertson said.
Investigators said the robber, whose identity was not immediately available, was pronounced dead at the scene. A second man was taken into custody, they said.
The police officer was listed in good condition at Huntington Memorial Hospital in Pasadena with a gunshot wound to the stomach, authorities said.
