OXNARD : Warming Shelter to Move Temporarily
- Share via
A warming shelter operated by the Ventura County Red Cross will be moved for the weekend to make way for the National Guard’s monthly training sessions, officials said Thursday.
The warming shelter, which provides a hot meal and shelter for homeless people, will move to the Oxnard First Baptist Church, 936 W. 5th St., tonight and Saturday, officials said.
The shelter will be open at 7 p.m. both nights.
The shelter is normally operated at the National Guard Armory at 351 S. K St. in Oxnard.
Once a month, however, the National Guard holds training for reserve troops at the facility.
Shelter operations will return to the Oxnard armory on Sunday, officials said.
