Riddick Bowe, the World Boxing Assn. and International Boxing Federation heavyweight champion, weighed in at 243 pounds for his title defense Saturday at Madison Square Garden against Michael Dokes, who weighed 244. Bowe weighed 235 when he defeated Evander Holyfield in November.
The combined weight of 487 pounds made the fight the second heaviest championship bout in history, topped only by the 488 3/4 of Primo Carnera (259 1/2) and Paolino Uzcudun (229 1/4) on Oct. 22, 1933.
