A former Angel employee, who claims she was fired for complaining about harassment and discrimination in the organization, filed a federal lawsuit against the team.
Natalia Sweeney, who is Hispanic, sought unspecified compensatory and general damages in the suit, which was filed in U.S. District Court in Los Angeles.
A spokesman for the Angels was not available for comment.
Ed Fox, Sweeney’s attorney, said his client was fired from her job as an administrative assistant in the team’s Anaheim office on Oct. 22. Since 1991, he said, she repeatedly complained about discrimination.
Fox said Sweeney was subjected to verbal abuse and sexual harassment.
