Interest on 30-Year Mortgages at New Low

WASHINGTON — Interest on 30-year, fixed-rate mortgages declined to a new 20-year low last week, the Federal Home Loan Mortgage Corp. said Friday.
The average rate was 7.80%, down from 7.86% a week earlier. It was the lowest weekly average since the week ended June 29, 1973, when it was 7.76%.
