‘Wish Book’ Admirer With a Story to Type

No doubt there are countless stories and jokes concerning Sears catalogues.
The one I heard as a child in Georgia featured the visit of a preacher to a country home. Before leaving, the good reverend expressed his desire to read a few verses from the family’s Bible.
The mother said to her young son, “Johnny, go bring out the dear old book.”
Johnny returned, of course, carrying the latest copy of the Sears catalogue.
