A major county-funded renovation project to refurbish El Cariso Regional Park in Sylmar will begin in several weeks, Supervisor Ed Edelman announced Wednesday.
Edelman said the improvements, approved by the Board of Supervisors on Tuesday without discussion, will be done by BEK Building Construction of La Crescenta, a participant in the county’s Minority/Women Business Enterprise Program. The project will cost an estimated $120,000 and will include refurbishing picnic shelters, tables and an outdoor kitchen, as well as replacing barbecues, painting picnic shelters and resurfacing outdoor hard courts. The county park is located at 13100 Hubbard St.
Financing comes from the county general fund and the land and water conservation funds. The work is expected to take two months, a spokesman for Edelman said.
