The Muckenthaler Cultural Center has scheduled an abbreviated exhibit of installation work by four Cal State Fullerton graduate art students from April 27 through May 16. Financial troubles forced the center in December to cancel an exhibit scheduled from April through July, which would have left its galleries dark during its regular season for the first time in at least eight years, officials said.
The student exhibit runs about three weeks--which will still leave center galleries dark for more than two months--but will cost the center less than $2,000, said exhibitions administrator Robert Zingg. Regular shows cost about $11,000, he said. The exhibit will feature Kathy Haddad, Carol Lombard, Tom Backer and Jeff Minton, who will receive no payment for their participation, he said.
